Investor Confidence Project Europe (ICP Europe) is launching an investor network to help connect real estate developers needing private capital with investors in search of energy efficiency projects that deliver environmental and financial results.
Funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme, ICP Europe aims to standardise energy efficiency upgrades, using measurement and verification metrics to make them more attractive to investors and building owners. Its Investor Ready Energy Efficiency™ (IREE) certified projects are accredited against industry standards and best practices, reducing transaction costs and increasing confidence in savings.
The investor network brings together investors with over €1 billion available for energy efficiency retrofit projects. Its members include: the European Energy Efficiency Fund administered by Deutsche Bank, SUSI Partners, Suma Capital, CleanTech Leasing, The Carbon and Energy Fund, Menhaden Capital, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Sources Fund, Joule Assets, PIB Insurance, Triodos Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland, Banco BPI, Amber Infrastructure, and Cut Power.
Panama Bartholomy, director of ICP Europe, said, “Offering investors a common language to compare risks and savings makes projects simpler, decisions easier, and project performance more reliable”.
Ben Goldsmith, chief executive of Menhaden Capital Management said, “The key obstacle that stands in the way of investors allocating capital to energy efficiency projects is the lack of any kind of standardisation.”
