All Edinburgh’s 17 shut schools have faults

Initial surveys of Edinburgh’s 17 closed schools suggest that every one is afflicted by faults. Edinburgh City Council says that some faults may be easily rectified, but that others could have a longer term impact. Edinburgh Schools Partnership (ESP) has yet to report the full survey findings.

The schools were constructed in 2005 under the private finance initiative, with ESP overseeing their construction. ESP continues to manage the schools on behalf of the council.

More than 7,000 school pupils have been affected by the closure.
