Cheshire East Council is carrying out research to test the technical, economic and financial feasibility of installing a district heating network in Macclesfield town centre. The council will soon invite companies to tender to carry out the study, which is supported by government funding.
The council has already identified a cluster of buildings around Market Place in Macclesfield town centre that could benefit from a sustainable source of heating.
Councillor Don Stockton, Cheshire East Council, cabinet member for regeneration, said: “If successful, the benefits of this scheme will be felt by the wider Macclesfield community.”
Businesses or landowners interested in finding out more about the opportunities for district heating in Macclesfield should contact the council via the email address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
