Marks and Spencer is to give a central Newcastle store a green makeover, which will include a green wall comprising some 16,000 plants.
The Newcastle store is the first location for a programme of store refurbishments planned by the retail giant. Features of the project will include:
- A 167sq m green wall
- Intelligent door sensors
- Climate control system, which will use waste heat from the refrigeration system to provide space heating for customers in the food hall.
The store’s makeover is taking place alongside plans to regenerate Newcastle city centre.
